Columnar apple trees pollinator duo for small spaces

This pair of columnar apple trees for small spaces brings together the Rondo and Rhapsodie varieties, interesting for their small size and narrow port. Naturally resistant to scab, requiring little maintenance, decorative with their blooms and fruiting, these apple trees are ideal for small gardens and container growing. Planted close to each other, they cross-pollinate, ensuring a good fruit production. Their bicoloured apples, red and yellow in colour, very pleasant to bite into, are harvested from late September through October.

This pair consists of:

- x1 Rondo® Apple Tree: yellow apples marbled with red when ripe, large in size. Their juicy and crunchy flesh has a very balanced flavour profile in terms of sugar and acidity. Harvest takes place in October. These apples are versatile, delicious eaten raw or cooked.

- x1 Rhapsodie® Apple Tree: apples coloured yellow and orange when ripe. Their flesh is juicy and crunchy, offering a good balance between tartness and sweetness. Harvest starts from late September. These apples are also enjoyable cooked in a compote or on a tart.

The apple tree (Malus domestica) is native to Europe, notably France where its presence has been documented since antiquity. Columnar apple trees are selected for their vertical growth, reduced to a single trunk, reaching no more than 3 m in height and 1 m in width, with no scaffold branches. This unique silhouette makes them perfect for small spaces, whether in the ground, in containers, or large pots. They are also highly decorative, creating a special atmosphere with their architectural appearance. Additionally, in spring, between March and April, they take on the appearance of long bouquets of flowers. Another advantage of these remarkable fruit trees is that they do not require pruning and are resistant to common forms of scab.

The fruits of Rondo and Rhapsodie do not store very well, but they can be kept until December if stored in a suitable place: a cool, well-ventilated area with shelves or crates for storage.
