Reliable pollinator duo for Peral trees: Beurré Hardy and Conference

This Pair of reliable pear pollinator trees consists of the varieties Hardy Butter and Conference which pollinate each other. Planted not far from each other in the garden, these two fruit trees will produce more. The pear harvest extends from September to November. Plant your bare-root pear trees preferably in autumn, as soon as you receive them, in deep, fertile, and well-worked soil.

This pair consists of:

- x1 Hardy Butter Pear Tree: a very hardy variety, suitable for all climates up to 800 m altitude if exposed to the sun. While it may take time to bear fruit, it is then very productive. The tree produces rounded fruits with smooth, green-bronze skin. Their flesh is fine and juicy, white, very sweet, with a powerful and tasty fragrance that has made its reputation. Harvest takes place in September and October. A self-sterile variety, it will be pollinated by Conference.

- x1 Conference Pear Tree: a very hardy variety, frost-resistant and not very susceptible to scab, which grows in all regions of France. The pears, elongated in a drop shape, reach maturity from the end of September. Their skin is light green, irregularly marbled with brown. The flesh, creamy white in colour, is sweet, juicy, slightly firm, and grainy near the core. Harvested two weeks before maturity, i.e. early October, they will keep in a cold but frost-free and ventilated room until January.

Although not frost-hardy, the Pear Tree still appreciates sheltered and sunny locations; avoid frosty and windy situations. It likes fresh and deep soils, but dislikes overly draining and calcareous soils. In winter, give it a shovelful of wood ash, rich in potash, to improve flowering and fruit quality.
Its upright posture gives it a tall, slender and very harmonious silhouette. Its oval leaves, finely toothed on the edge, have a petiole as long as the blade and measure approximately 8 to 9 cm. They turn yellow before falling in autumn.
Its late white blossom in April protects it from frosts. Its flowers consist of 5 white petals and are highly visited by bees.

A bush-trained fruit tree does not have a leader (vertical main stem) but branches radiating from its trunk. This particular shape allows good penetration of sunlight and air into the branches, promoting fruit development and ripening while limiting disease development.
